More Visual Studio Woes

3 11 2006

There is grumbling in the office, low and muttered cussing, sharp exhalations of breath followed by a string of expletives to make a drunken sailor blush.  This is a daily occurence brought on by the terrible dev tools that Microsoft gives us.  Visual Studio is the worst – their 2003 IDE is almost unusable and their 2005 one is not much better.  You are working away, deep in concentration, a solution almost at hand when your pc freezes and you get the following very helpful message:

See the first line, “You chose to end…”, bolloks I chose nothing of the sort – however the phrasing of this little gem leaves you feeling a little guilty – what could I have done to have this happen.

This error message is given in the form of a little popup finger of happiness to all our developers daily, thanks so much Microsoft for all your quality control and wonderfully intuitive and responsive applications.

It is little wonder we are all looking to jump ship to Sun and Java.
