Snake Oil Science

19 09 2006

In life there are various shades of gullibility and naivety. There are those people who need not take precautions in life because bad things only happen to bad people. Then there is the category of person who is taken in by the “because it’s science” argument. Advertising loves this particular type of person which is why we see every fat pill on the market endorsed by a nameless person in a white lab coat. “Gee if that clever looking scientist person says it’s all right then it must be…….”.

Marketeers love wrapping the latest snake oil in a veneer of science. I came across this website today – Biopro Technology. These polukers sell you little round disks with “chips” in them for an exorbitant price. These little chips will protect you from the nasty effects of electromagnetic frequency (EMF) or electromagnetic radiation (EMR). Some particularly bad and naughty devices need more chips (more is best for protection …) – please see oh so comprehensive table label led “How Many Harmonizing Chips Do I Need?”

Pick up your 6 pack of Harmonising chips for a mere R1,250.00 – be protected, feel safe …..

I have a friend who bought a load of these from a company called ener-g-polari-t for US$30 each. What a scam! Have you seen any sources that discredit these so I can set him straight?

Thank God! There are more people that can see the truth by just common sense. Allow me to enlighten you even more and possibly piss you off even more.

There is no “chip” in those rubber based disks/stickers. The logo shines through the dome face of that rubber and on the adhesive side it’s a shinny tinfoil adhesive base. I guess the the shinny chrome is suppose to make it look “scientific”. They “claim” that what’s between the printed logo and the shinny tin is a “chip”. So this “printed chip” is really a sticker about ½ the thickness of a human hair. You can see what they have drawn here: http://bioproisascam.blogspot.com – look at the so called chip for their biolife pendant. This pendant is a thin plastic with copper drawn in an unexplainable pattern. Some “area 51” crap is what it looks like. So this rubber “chip” that you are to place on your microwave, refrigerator, etc. is suppose to “protect” you from the EMF off these devises.

As I type this all up I become more and more pissed off at the level of this scam and that this company can even exist in the United States! Help support our cause to have this company investigated and shut down. Perfect justice would force them to pay every single person they scammed back right out of Ray Grimm’s pocket, the king scammer!

I had that damn “chip” before. Its a total fucking scam… one day I decided to cut it with a scissors and see what’s inside. Its just a regular sticker. The same thing that constitutes what kindy teachers hand out to little kids in the form of a gold star. Seriously, next time your kid gets a gold star at school, take it off their coloring book and stick in on your cell phone. It will work better than BioPro. These guys otta be hung by their balls.
